55. GIANT PUFFER (Tetraodon mbu)
FAMILY: Tetraodontoidae
TYPE: Miscellanious (Pufferfish)
MAX SIZE: 28" (approx. 70cm)
ORIGIN: Africa
DIET: Carnivore
CHARACTER: Aggressive
MISC: the largest of the freshwater puffer fish, good filtration and large space is essential when keeping this species



54. FAHAKA PUFFER (Tetraodon lineatus)
FAMILY: Tetraodontoidae
TYPE: Miscellanious (Pufferfish)
MAX SIZE: 18" (approx. 45cm)
ORIGIN: Africa
DIET: Carnivore
CHARACTER: Aggressive
MISC: Like other puffers, these fish have formidable teeth, which can do a lot of damage to tankmates. Snails and shellfish should be included in the diet to help keep their teeth in check, as they grow constantly



53. CONGO PUFFER (Tetraodon miurus)
FAMILY: Tetraodontoidae
TYPE: Miscellanious (Pufferfish)
MAX SIZE: 6" (approx. 15cm)
ORIGIN: Congo, Central Africa
DIET: Carnivore
CHARACTER: Aggressive
MISC: capable of wide color changes (possibly to adapt to the color of the aquatic floor) ranging from dark browns to greenish-brown to an almost yellow or orange hue



52. BANDED PUFFER (Colomesus psittacus)

TYPE: Miscellanious (Pufferfish)
MAX SIZE: 12" (approx. 30cm), often much smaller in aquaria
ORIGIN: Amazon, South America
DIET: Carnivore
CHARACTER: Aggressive
MISC: Solitary or in groups of 2 or 3 individuals but never in schools



51. "GLOBO" / SOUTH AMERICAN PUFFER (Colomesus asellus)
FAMILY: Tetraodontoidae
TYPE: Miscellanious (Pufferfish)
MAX SIZE: 6" (approx. 15cm), often much smaller in aquaria
ORIGIN: Amazon, South America
DIET: Carnivore
CHARACTER: Peaceful
MISC: more tolerant of its own kind than many puffers, so more than one can be housed in a tank together
